Reminder: Money orders must be payable to JPay

We want to make sure that if you send us a money order to be processed that we can do just that – process it.  So please make sure you follow the guidelines, which includes making sure all money orders and cashier’s checks are payable to JPay.

Feel free to include the recipient’s name or ID number on the “memo” or “used for” line, but the “payable” section of any money order or cashier’s check MUST be made out to JPay.  Money orders made payable to anyone other than JPay will be denied and returned to you by mail.

I have been using A moneygram kiosk to send my supervision fees for a while now but have just learned that they are not posting. What do I need to do in order to make sure the money I’ve paid gets credited to my supervision fees?

One more thing, I’ve done a jPay acct. but for some reason I am no longer able to send money online and I can’t transfer stamps to my boyfriend. I’ve been sending money by money gram and occasionally by phone but I prefer to go online. I can’t enter any numbers for example a dollar amount or number of stamps to transfer. Can you please explain why and how I can fix this. Thank you

Thanks for the answer I’ll send money one of those ways you mentioned. I am concerned that there is a charge based on how much money one sends I just do not understand why sending 20 dollars is 3.95 and sending 200.00 is 11.95 what is the difference, other than the amount I want to send. While I realize you need to make money to stay in business, it is a hardship for some of us and every penny is needed. Just an observation I am sure others would like to know as well. Thanks again for the reply and the answer you gave me on sending money to my friend.

Hi Randy – In most states, you can transfer money three ways through JPay. There is no processing fee for money orders. You can also send money online at http://www.jpay.com or via MoneyGram. Payments made through MoneyGram and online at http://www.jpay.com are typically made available the following business day. The limit for each transaction varies by state and type of transaction. Please click on this link http://www.jpay.com/PAvail.aspx to see the JPay services and rates available at your loved one’s facility. To find out more information regarding what is available through your loved one’s commissary, we recommend contacting your loved one’s facility.

The best way to find out pricing for the JP5 tablet is to log into your JPay account on JPay.com and see which options are available for you to purchase on your loved ones’ behalf. If you have specific questions, please contact our customer service at 800-574-5729. You can also reach our customer service at support@jpay.com.

I am not sure why I have to send a money gram to JPay, to send money to my friend in prison, Does JPay take a percentage of the money we send to inmates? If you do take a percentage of the money, isn’t that extortion? I’m not trying to be difficult and certainly not trying to alienate my friend from JPay or any of your officers etc, I would just like to understand why JPay has to be named the recipient of money meant for an inmate. I am able to just deposit cash into his commissary account so he can spend it as he likes on things he is able to buy from the “store” inside the prison where he is currently incarcerated. Since I live in Canada, I am unable to purchase a TV for him through the company that provides such devices,, so it seems the only other way is to send money to JPay to deliver or forward cash to him so he is able to buy the TV himself. Am I not able to deposit money into his commissary account so he is able to buy the TV himself or is there a limit to the amount of money I am allowed to deposit into his account? The price of any television or device is not shown so I am not sure how much anything truly costs and whether or not I am able to afford the purchases I have in mind for him. I am also unable to find out how much a JP5 Mini may cost. I have seen what it can do and what the inmate can do with the tablet, but no where does it say how much it actually costs in dollars and cents. While they re just a tablet I am guessing that they might cost in the neighborhood of $75.00 or $80.00 While I know the price differs from state to state, all I am looking for is an estimated cost say within $10.00 and 20.00$ of the average price of this device. Please know I am not trying to be hostile or difficult, I am just trying to understand how the system works for people from another country. Thank you for your consideration in helping me understand the how, when and why of JPay. Sincerely Randy

My spouse has received two diff tablets over the past few months that do not work. He received one 06/30 and the screen just stays stuck on the reboot screen. He has synced it and tried everything. It takes a very long time to put in tickets and to get replacement. Does anyone have any suggestions for me on how to get his tablet fixed?
